The salary range for this position is lower to upper $50k-range, commensurate with experience.

Overview & Benefits

Bottom Line is searching for a motivated and talented fundraising professional to manage and drive the execution of our individual giving efforts, working in close partnership with the Managing Director of Development & External Affairs. The primary responsibilities in this role are to: (1) plan, manage and execute our fundraising events; (2) partner with your manager to develop the goals and strategies for high quality donor cultivation and stewardship and then manage the execution of these activities and (3) ensure high-quality and consistent engagement is occurring for all individual donors and prospects. This position is based in our Brooklyn office with some local travel required.


Key responsibilities highlighted below are:


Portfolio Management

  • Develop the plans and activities to ensure individual donors are engaged year-round, educated about Bottom Line and informed about the impact they are making annually
  • In partnership with your manager, devise strategies to grow the base of individual donors and develop the plans and activities to cultivate prospects
  • Support the Managing Director of Development and External Affairs to refine and build upon Bottom Line’s major gifts program to attract 5, 6 and 7-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Manage and grow Bottom Line’s network of young professionals through effective execution of the NYC Associate Board
  • In execution of these key responsibilities, specific activities will include but are not limited to:
    • Oversee and implement annual appeals
    • Collaborate with development and program staff to craft mailed and/or e-mailed communications
    • Conduct donor research and qualify new individuals for appropriate cultivation efforts
    • Support and prepare your Executive Director and Managing Director of Development and External Affairs to engage with donors/prospects and manage/prepare timely follow-up from these interactions
    • Prepare proposals for gift solicitation and individual stewardship plans for top individual donors
  • Utilize Salesforce CRM to manage all donors, interactions and activities and to track progress to goals 


Special Events

  • Oversee planning, fundraising, production, and logistics for Bottom Line’s signature Spring Reception event
    • Manage Event Leadership Committee made up of Board members and other key stakeholders
    • Work directly with external event vendors (if any) to coordinate efforts and logistics
    • Oversee strategy for event promotion
    • Oversee solicitation of auction items and lead all night-of fundraising efforts
    • With the Executive Director, Managing Director and Senior Director of Strategic Partners, support direct solicitation of sponsorships and ticket sales
  • Oversee planning, fundraising, Event Leadership and logistics for Bottom Line’s Associate Board Fundraising event, “Bottom’s Up”
  • Plan and execute 3-5 donor events each year to attract, cultivate and steward individual donors
  • Support other fundraising and program events throughout the year including Bottom Line’s NYC Marathon Team



  • Serve as staff support for the Board Development Committee in collaboration and cooperation with the Managing Director of Development and External Affairs
  • Attend Development Committee and Regional Board meetings when appropriate
  • In cooperation with the Managing Director of Development and External Affairs, support the Executive Director in prioritizing their donor engagement efforts
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the Development department by working collaboratively with colleagues on the creation and execution of the annual fundraising plan


  • A minimum of 3-4 years of related experience; Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred. Work authorization required.
  • Previous fundraising and event planning experience
  • Exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Strong relationship-builder with a keen understanding of the context and motivations of others
  • A strong communicator – both oral and written – with ability to tailor tone and key messages based on audience
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to build and execute strong plans
  • Track record of exhibiting strong initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve goals
  • Flexibility to adapt based on the needs of a fast-paced organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s mission and core values
  • Able to work with ethnically, culturally and socially diverse students, staff, board members, senior executives and other constituencies
  • Familiarity with NYC funding communities a plus
  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus
  • Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours
