    50% -- Frequent campus travel (3 days per week) during the college semester. Commute to campus can be up to 3 hours roundtrip. Approx. 1/3 of Counselors will be assigned to college campuses that require overnight stays every 3 weeks.
    Work Hours
    Success Counselors work an 8.5 hour shift, including a daily ½ hour unpaid meal/rest break to comply with FLSA. This includes core hours of 10:00 am to 6:00 pm when all counselors are expected to be present. There may be times throughout the year when a counselor may be expected to work additional hours and/or flex their schedule to meet the needs of our students.

    Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of the Success Counselor is to support a caseload of approximately 85 college students at 2 to 3 college campuses. The Success Counselor provides one-on-one academic, financial, personal, and career advising, and tracks and records student progress in our database using both quantitative and qualitative data.

     

    Direct Student Support & Data Management - 85%

    • Manage a caseload of 80 – 90 first and second year college students at up to three different universities, including supporting students who have become unenrolled or who have transferred out of a Bottom Line Success School
      • Schedule and lead 45-minute long appointments for 18 students per week on campus
      • Meet with up to 40 incoming first year students over the summer to ensure a smooth transition to their new campus
    • Follow Bottom Line’s structured curriculum (DEAL), which supports students in four areas (Degree, Employability, Financial Aid and Life Skills), to help students progress towards reaching milestones
      • Assess all students bi-annually by reviewing the semester with them over the phone
    • Track and record student progress, using both quantitative and qualitative measures, within 3 business days of a student interacton or status update
      • Enter assessments, required DEAL data, and service plans bi-annually and maintain accurate records of progress against service plans throughout the year
      • Maintain accurate student contact information in the student database
      • Run regular reports to show progress against goals and benchmarks for students on caseloads, in transition, or progressing through Success Direct
    • Maintain ongoing communication with students by checking in with them in between campus meetings
      • Respond to all student text/calls/emails within 48 hours
    • Guide students through financial aid renewal process by appropriate deadlines
    • Help students resolve general obstacles that come up throughout the school year by coaching them on self-advocacy and resourcefulness skills, and communicate with school offices, TAP/ FAFSA to advocate for students and resolve issues when required

    Program and Organizational Support - 15%

    • Support programming connected to some of the following areas:
      • Transition workshops and events for graduating high school seniors
      • Relationship-building with college and university partners
      • On-campus event planning for students
      • Resource development and curriculum planning
      • Recruitment of students directly into the Success Program
    • Represent the Bottom Line brand in a positive light, and take actions to increase brand awareness throughout the community

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree and work authorization
    • 1 – 2 years of related work experience
    • Experience developing trusting relationships with college students
    • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s mission and core values
    • Demonstrated proficiency and/or growth potential in Bottom Line's seven core competencies: Relationships, Results, Communication, Inclusiveness, Talent Development, Agility, and Planning
    • The ability to make a minimum of a two-year commitment

    Preferred:

    • Fluency in language other than English a plus
    • Valid driver's license required and access to a car strongly preferred
