As one of the first college support organizations to focus on college completion, Bottom Line now produces best-in-class college graduation rates that eliminate the significant gap between first generation students from low-income backgrounds and their wealthier peers. We operate regional programs in Massachusetts, where we were founded in 1997, New York City and Chicago that collectively serve over 7,000 students. We plan to open two new sites in major urban areas and increase our footprint to over 10,000 students by 2020.

The Manager of Development Operations (MDO) will manage and oversee the operations of Bottom Line’s multi-site Development function. This work ensures that Bottom Line is able to raise the funding necessary to support our programs effectively and efficiently, because development staff are successfully leveraging shared tools and systems, most notably, our Salesforce CRM.
The primary responsibility of the MDO is to create and find efficiencies in the systems and processes that support our fundraising activities. Though the majority of fundraising activities occur locally in our regions, the MDO sits on our National Team to both understand local implementation plans and ensure coordinated efforts across sites and with the National team. The responsibilities of this role span many aspects of strong development operations - from the management of on-line transactions to the strategic organization of contacts into donor segments to the reporting of progress to senior leaders of the organization.
A successful Manager of Development Operations will be considered a member of each regional development team though they sit on the National Team. The ideal candidate is a highly organized systems-thinker, an effective communicator and a skilled relationship builder. The MDO must understand the mechanics of Development and Development Strategy to be able to match systems and tools to the needs of our front-line Development teams. The MDO must have the ability to create and manage processes as well as the skill to train others on using systems and processes effectively.
The Manager of Development Operations is a new role – reporting directly to the Chief of Growth Strategy and Development. The MDO will sit in the National Office, based in Boston.
