As one of the first college support organizations to focus on college completion, Bottom Line now produces best-in-class college graduation rates that eliminate the significant gap between first generation students from low-income backgrounds and their wealthier peers. We operate regional programs in Massachusetts, where we were founded in 1997, New York City and Chicago that collectively serve over 7,000 students. We plan to open two new sites in major urban areas and increase our footprint to over 10,000 students by 2020.

The Managing Director of Development (MDD) will lead Bottom Line’s local efforts to engage stakeholders across New York City in raising the funding and resources needed to help students get into college, graduate and go far. Currently, Bottom Line is raising about $4.5M annually and seeks to grow to meet the demand for our programs across our community.
The primary responsibility of our local Development teams is to execute a strong and multi-faceted development plan that has both philanthropic and fee-for-service components. As a National organization, our overall Development strategy is developed centrally, providing a foundation from which local teams, under the leadership of the MDD, can build to adapt to local needs, opportunities and strengths.
A successful MDD will be able to work in partnership with a local Executive Director (ED) and Development Committee to maximize revenue annually while continuing to build for the future. The MDD will oversee the full New York portfolio, directly managing a mid-sized portfolio of major donors (individual and institutional) of their own while providing strategic guidance to both the ED and the 3 portfolio managers who report to them, to ensure strong stakeholder engagement across all segments.
This position is based in our Region office and requires some travel.
