Bottom Line is dedicated to helping first-generation students from low-income backgrounds get into college, graduate from college, and go far in life. Our vision is to dramatically transform urban communities by producing thousands of new career-ready college graduates.
As one of the first college support organizations to focus on college completion, Bottom Line now produces best-in-class college graduation rates that eliminate the significant gap between first generation students from low-income backgrounds and their wealthier peers. We operate regional programs in Massachusetts, where we were founded in 1997, New York City and Chicago that collectively serve over 7,000 students. We plan to open two new sites in major urban areas and increase our footprint to over 10,000 students by 2020.
Bottom Line focuses on students who have the desire and potential to earn a degree, but lack the support structures necessary to navigate the college application process, make a responsible school choice, succeed in college, and prepare for a meaningful career.

The Director of Partnerships (DP) is responsible for cultivating and stewarding institutional partners for Bottom Line in the Boston region through building mutually beneficial and revenue-producing partnerships. This work builds on our awareness of the connection between our mission and impact to the broader community.
The Director of Partnerships in Boston will primarily focus on partners from the corporate sector relating to workforce development and/or hiring. In Boston, Bottom Line has the largest alumni group and graduating classes, creating a strong case for partnership between us and the corporate community. Additionally, the DP will seek to learn from New York’s approach of seeking student recruitment based partnerships and evaluate the Boston landscape for nonprofit and/or school-based partnerships.
A successful DP is a strategic thinker who understands how to create value-driven relationships. They will be able to create strong case statements that link Bottom Line’s work to the goals of other entities. They are persistent and eager to make connections. They seek out opportunity as opposed to waiting for opportunity to present itself. They are also a strong relationship manager, understanding the value of a relationship based on trust and following through on commitments.
The DP reports to and works in close partnership with the Managing Director of Development.
This position is based in our Jamaica Plain office with some travel, both within and outside of the region, required.
