    Responsibilities

    Bottom Line is currently searching for a Director of Finance to manage the day-to-day financial operations for a $13.5M, multi-site organization.  The Director of Finance is a very hands on position with active responsibility over general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial operations, and planning.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance will be a member of an 18-person national headquarters team supporting regional teams in MA, NYC, and Chicago.

     

    The Director of Finance is a full-time position located in downtown Boston.  Hours are approx. 9 to 5, with additional hours as necessary.  Occasional travel to regional offices in (Jamaica Plain, NYC, and Chicago) is required.  The Director will supervise two FT accounting staff members.

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

     

    Financial and Operational Management (35%)

    • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial  policies and adherence to accounting procedures and standards with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Financial Accounting Services Board (FASB), and the Office of Management and Budgets (OMB)
    • Oversee the effective use of financial systems and their intersection across the organization including Sage Intacct, Certify Expense Management, and Paylocity (Payroll system)
    • Maintain accounting and financial systems and accounting records
    • Work with HR team to process the bi-weekly payroll in order to ensure all staff are paid on a timely and accurate basis
    • Reconcile General Ledger accounts
    • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
    • Develop processes for more efficient work-flow between National team, Regional teams, and Finance team of 3

    Reporting & Analysis (20%)

    • Manage the annual financial audit, and all required state and federal reporting
    • Prepare monthly financial statements including budget to actuals, forecasts and cash flow
    • Present financial reports to senior leadership, board and funders as necessary
    • Provide reporting support to external stakeholders related to grant requirements
    • Complete all reports to all benefit vendors and state insurance agencies, and provide reports to HR as needed throughout benefits plan year
    • Proactively seek to improve reporting capability and more efficient/effective use of financial platforms

    Budget Project Management (20%)

    • Design and Manage the annual organizational Budget Process
    • Revise and implement budget templates
    • Connect with regional
    • Improve forecasting process through engaging with regional staff
    • Support local Executive Directors and National staff with annual budget process

    Leadership (15%)

    • Create and help to maintain a supportive, inclusive, and positive work environment among the Finance team of 3, and the National Team as whole
    • Manage performance of Accounting staff, providing coaching and feedback to support their career growth
      • This includes: setting goals, assessing progress toward these goals and Bottom Line's core competencies, providing feedback and coaching through challenges
    • Support daily and monthly work of Accountants, and fill in as needed

     

    Organizational Support (10%)

    • Participate in cross-team projects to help National team meet strategic priorities
    • Provide support to regional development teams and program teams as needed
    • Represent the Bottom Line brand in a positive light and take actions to increase brand awareness throughout the community

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • 7 - 10 years of finance management and leadership experience
    • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s mission, vision, and core values
    • Demonstrated proficiency and/or growth potential in our core competencies (please see below)
    • Bachelor’s degree and work authorization required; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
